Welcome to Draugaskald

Thank-you for visiting my little corner of the Internet - here is the place you’ll be able to acquire copies of my beloved books, prints of rugged, northern wilds I have been lucky enough to capture, and read more about what started me down this winding path.

I’m Sofie, and as the name I’ve grown known by, Draugaskald, suggests - I am endlessly inspired by ancient voices. Those skalds that wove word-magic of their grief, of their war-lust, of their victories and gods.

Although I’ve never wielded a weapon and earned my battle-fame, I share a fascination for and deep love of writing. It is my favourite thing to do, my greatest challenge, my greatest solace, my constant companion - and has got me through the darkest stretches of my life.

My dream has always been, and remains, to live off of writing fantasy books from an old, wooden writing desk, with a view through the window to rain-wreathed forests at the foot of mountain giants.

…I’m not quite there yet, but for now, I’m endlessly proud to have released Draugaskald: Vol 1 in the summer of 2021 - a black-paged tome containing short tales and poems inspired by dark fantasy, pagan rites and northern mythologies. Volume II is nearly ready for production, and I cannot wait to bring it to you all soon. Your support for my work has strengthened my resolve a thousandfold that writing is my path - thank-you, over and over, for helping me on my journey to bring my writing, my dreams, to life.
